The „Hungarian National Roma Platform” visited Vilmány to conduct consultation
On Tuesday, the “Hungarian National Roma Platform” continued in the traditional way with a personal presence: the consultation event was opened by Katalin Victor Langerné, Deputy State Secretary for Social Inclusion of the Ministry of Interior, in Vilmány located in the northern part of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county. In her speech, she highlighted the importance of personal contact in discussing problems in the field and was pleased to participate in the consultation.
Other speakers giving opening speeches at the Platform included Félix Farkas, Roma nationality advocate, Gergely Szabó, Vice President of the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Assembly, and Béla Batyi, Mayor of Vilmány.
The Deputy State Secretary giving a presentation in Vilmány
The presentations provided valuable professional insights for everyone: Katalin Victor Langerné, Deputy State Secretary, presented the latest developments in social inclusion policy, followed by Pál Andó, Head of the North-Hungarian Social Inclusion Directorate, who presented the role of the Social Inclusion Directorate for Social Inclusion in social inclusion policy.
Dávid Kiss, a professional staff member of the Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta, presented the long-term development programme of the emerging settlements, emphasising that “helping well” is extremely important: in social inclusion it is not enough to help those lagging behind so that they are still “behind”. Instead they must be helped in a way that they can really, actually work off their disadvantage, catch up and be on the same level as us, the helpers.
Then, Ildikó Szabó-Fazekas from the Deputy State Secretariat, gave a presentation on the planned social inclusion programmes for the period 2021-2027.
Afterwards, a presentation entitled “Those who live and work in the county” was given on a local good practice: the Common Vibe project staff presented the musical activities of the Várkonyi Csibészek.
After a professional consultation, the event ended with a visit to the Presence Point in Vilmány.
