The consultation event called „Hungarian National Roma Platform” continued with a personal presence in Ózd

The “Hungarian National Roma Platform” continued on Thursday with a personal presence: the consultation event took place in Ózd, in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County, which was opened by dr László Ulicska, Head of Department, representing Katalin Victor Langerné, Deputy State Secretary for Social Inclusion of the Ministry of Interior.

Other speakers giving opening speeches at the consultation included Gergely Szabó, Vice President of the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Assembly, Félix Farkas, Roma nationality advocate, and Dávid Janiczak, Mayor of Ózd.

The presentations provided the participants with valuable professional insights: dr. László Ulicska, Head of the Department at the Deputy State Secretariat presented the latest developments in social inclusion policy, and Klára Budai, staff member of the Directorate General for Social Inclusion presented the institution’s role in inclusion policy.

Mr. Dávid Kiss, a professional staff member of the Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta, presented the long-term development programme of the emerging settlements.

Afterwards, Ildikó Szabó-Fazekas from the Deputy State Secretariat gave a presentation on the planned social inclusion programmes for the period 2021-2027.

In the following section titled “Those who live and work among us in the county”, presentations were made on local good practices: first, Kriszta Bódis, Head of the “You Belong Here” Foundation [Van Helyed Alapítvány], introduced the organisation and its work. Then Anna Gáspár, regional coordinator of the Hungarian Interchurch Aid, reported on the implementation of the “Endless Opportunities” [Végtelen lehetőség] Child Chance Programme implemented in the Gönci district.

Finally, Dóra Szendrák, Executive Director of the Regional Civic Centre Foundation, gave a presentation on the Foundation’s activities, mainly on the experience of implementing complex housing programmes aimed at improving segregated living conditions.

The event ended with a professional consultation, which will continue next week in Baranya County.
